Emily holds a Bachelor's degree in writing and photography from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.
She was a staff reporter/photojournalist and copy editor for the Sequim Gazette from 2021-2023 and is currently working for them as a freelance writer/photographer as well as accepting commissions from other publications.
While employed at the Gazette, in the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association’s Better Newspaper Contest in 2023 Emily won:
First place, Arts Feature or Story, Group 2 (“Driftwood artist creations soar”)
Second place, Personality Profile-Long, Group 2 (“Kennel Club’s Cornell leaves a legacy”)
Third place, General Feature Story-Short, Group 2 (WAG raising funds for injured lab/husky mix”)
